Quick Start

1. Fork this repo and create a branch: git checkout -b feat/programming-beginner
2. Create the skill file: app/content/skills/02-programming-beginner/SKILL.md
3. Follow the template: See docs/skill-development-guide.md for the required 6-section structure

What This Skill Should Cover

Module	Focus
Computational Thinking	Decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, algorithms — before writing any code
Python Basics	Variables, control flow, functions, data structures — with real mini-projects, not abstract exercises
Debugging Methodology	Read the error → form a hypothesis → test it → fix it. Teach debugging as a skill, not a chore
Project-Based Learning	Build something real at each stage (calculator, quiz game, web scraper, etc.)

Key Requirements

• Socratic teaching mode — always ask what the learner thinks before explaining (see 02-stem-tutor/SKILL.md for reference)
• Spaced repetition checkpoints — quiz on previous concepts before introducing new ones
• This is separate from the STEM tutor — focused purely on learning to code from zero
• Target audience: complete beginners with no prior programming experience
