dashboard fails: EGL not initiallized

Trying n1mm view for the first time on a Pi 3B+ with fresh raspberry pi os lite.
Collector is working but trying to launch dashboard.py crashes with
pygame.error: EGL not initiallized

I don't know where to go from here, any help appreciated.

I imaged a new sd card with Raspberry PI OS (64-Bit), put this into a Raspberry Pi 3b...

as root:

# apt update
# apt upgrade
# apt install python3-matplotlib python3-pygame python3-cartopy
# reboot

as a regular user (jeff in this case):

$ git clone https://github.com/n1kdo/n1mm_view.git

Then I edited the n1mm_view.ini file, started ./collector.py to populate an empty database, and then I ran ./dashboard.py -- which works for me. I get the expected full screen display.

Perhaps the problem you are having is related to the 'lite' OS you are running?

I will say that after using a Pi 5 with the M.2 hat SSD, this Pi 3b does seem very slow. But it does work.

Thank you for your quick reply. :) As it happens I was already working on another raspberry image with desktop. That indeed got me much farther along, it seems to be working but there is no map in the rotation. Of course it's the map that people want to see. Output from the dashboard is attached.
